Third Class 2016-2017
Welcome to the our terrific third class page! Here you can see for yourself all the hard work and fun things that we will be getting up to this year!
We are super heroes!
Storytime!
We are very talented writers in third class. We love writing stories. We have even published our stories using a website called "Storybird". We had so much fun thinking up of ideas for our stories and then going to the computer room to type them. Have a look at our finished products:
Marble ink fun! |
|
We are now marbling experts in third class! For art, we used marble inks to do cool blue designs on Dublin jersey pages and then we did our very own marble design. We also wrote procedures about how to use marble inks so other classes can learn from us.
Third Class 2015-2016
Annie!
On Wednesday 13th of April, we took a trip to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre to see Annie - the Musical. We had a lovely sunny day, which meant we could have a little picnic outside before the performance. The girls all really enjoyed the show, we heard many familiar songs such as Tomorrow, Hard Knock Life and You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile!
World Book Day took place on Thursday 3rd of March. We celebrated with a trip to the library and each of the girls won a book in the Whole School Book Raffle. Happy Reading!
World Book Day!
General Election Fever Hits Virgin Mary G.N.S.!
On Friday 26th of February, the Irish General Election took place. In the days leading up to that election, plans were being made to launch campaigns in the student elections! Two candidates from 3rd class took part - Alicia and Kayla. They were well supported by their classmates. Lots of teamwork took place in the classroom, which was great to see. Hopefully we will see some of these girls involved in politics in the future!
Creating with Clay!
Third Class have been very creative using clay throughout the month of January. First they made coil pots and painted and decorated them. Then they used special clay tools to carve out features on faces of people and animals made from clay. Have a look at their fantastic creations!
Fractions in the Cookery Room!
We have been learning lots about fractions over the past two weeks and last Thursday (21/01/2016) we paid a visit to the Cookery Room to put our knowledge to the test! We cut slices of bread into halves, quarters and eighths. This helped us to work out which fractions are bigger and smaller than others. We have been busy looking out for examples of fractions at home and at school!
Santa Claus Comes to Visit!
We were delighted to welcome Santa to our school on Monday, 21st of December. We were all so happy with the lovely presents we received. We sang 'Tá Daidí na Nollag ag teacht' and Santa was very impressed with our singing :)
Trip to Collins Barracks!
We joined 4th, 5th and 6th class for a trip to Collins Barracks on Thursday 26th of November. We learned lots about women and children who were members of the Irish army. We all received an activity book to fill out, we really enjoyed our trip!
Science Week!
Science Week took place from the 8th to the 15th of November. We are lucky enough to have some budding Scientists in our class - Suzie, Alicia and Kayla brought in various materials for us to do experiments with. We also paid a visit to Ballymun Library to take part in some Biology, Chemistry and Physics experiments. One of the experiments included the dissection of a squid - not everyone was a fan of this!
