In first class we have just completed the 'junior achievement' programme. Every Friday our junior achievement mentor Heather would teach us all about living and working in the local community. We even got to be entrepreneurs for a day and received a special certificate of completion for all our hard work.

The theme for this years Catholic schools week was 'family'. We wrote class acrostic poems about our individual families and our school family.

We have started the 'food dudes' programme in our school. It is so important to eat lots of fruit and vegetables in order to stay healthy. Each day we will taste a different piece of fruit and vegetable.

Virgin Mary GNS is a 'green school, and so we try to be as environmentally friendly as we can, even in the way we travel to school each day. As we were the second best class for travelling to school in a green way (mainly walking, and cycling to school)we were awarded the 'silver boot' award for our efforts.
In November we remember
As November is remembrance month, we erected a small remembrance tree in our classroom to remember all our loved ones who have died and gone to heaven. Each girl took one tag and wrote down the names of her loved ones that she wants to remember. Each morning we say a special Hail Mary for them.
Report writing in first class
We are learning all about report writing in first class. In pairs, we are working on animal projects including projects on dogs, cats, horses, penguins, fish, ladybirds, monkeys and rabbits. We used the tablets to do some research on the animals first. Take a look at how we're doing so far.
Halloween fun in room 1
We had lots of fun on dress up day for Halloween. We played lots of fun games and came to school in some really spooky costumes. Can you guess who is who?
