Our school is privileged to be involved in the Incredible Years Programme. This programme provides a Dinosaur Curriculum Programme, designed by Dr. Webster-Stratton to help prevent behaviour problems and promote social competence and emotional literacy in young children. The Dinosaur School Programme employs strategies using puppets to help children learn non-aggressive ways to solve common conflicts, learn appropriate classroom behaviours, and positive social skills with other children and adults.

The Incredible Years Parenting programme gives parents and caregivers useful information and practical guidelines on how to build positive relationships with their children.

Participants discuss parenting principles and strategies during weekly two-hour group sessions for ten weeks or more. They are encouraged to identify their own strengths, share their experiences and practise new skills.

Topics include:

helping your child learn through play.
using praise and encouragement to motivate your child.
using incentives to teach your child new behaviour.
setting limits.
following through with limits and rules.
decreasing your child’s inappropriate behaviour.
teaching children to solve problems.
