Visit from Farmer Ashley and the Pet Farm3rd and 4th Class School TourOur Class PicnicTrip to DubliniaOur Trip to Trinity Comprehensive by AliciaToday, the 08-03-2017 we went to Trinity Comprehensive for a P.E expo. First of all we left our school (we’re hardly going to teleport). We were guided by a group of people to the stand room. We all had to have a partner, my partner was Mia. We got a sheet and on it, it had Leinster, Munster, Ulster, Connaught and Dublin. Suzie and Shannon, Amy and Brooke were the only people who got Connaught. After that we went to the P.E (physical Education) Hall. First we got these laser guns and the aim was that you had to shoot 5 targets, I only hit 1. Next we were going to be taught some Judo. We had to wait 5-10 minutes. I didn’t think we were going to get a turn, but we did! First we played stuck in the mud. Then we were taught how to do an actual tumble. Then a backwards tumble. Then a cartwheel. Last but not least we got a partner, my partner was Abbey. You grab their jumper close to their heart, pull them down really hard and when they were trying to get up you trip them up and then leap.
I really enjoyed myself! Using our Wonderful Imaginations! |
|
The girls of fourth class recently showed the power of their imagination when they were challenged to create a structure using less than five pipe cleaners. This lead to some interesting results...!
A Visit from Santa!
We were very lucky to get a visit from Santa just before our Christmas Holidays. We played Jingle Bells on the tin whistle and he was very impressed!
Our Trip to the National Concert Hall
On the 10th of November, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes all took a trip to the National Concert Hall. We experimented with musical instruments, sang The Galaxy Song and made musical instruments from recyclable materials. At the end of the day, we returned to the main room and sang the Galaxy Song once more. This time Kayla was the conductor of the choir and she did a fantastic job!
Mystery Letters
In November we practiced writing letters, we picked the names of our classmates out of a hat and kept who we had a secret! We wrote the letters, addressed the envelopes and paid a visit to Ballymun Post Office to post the letters. Fortunately, we had no school the next day and we were all at home to receive our letters.
Halloween!
- At Halloween we experimented with a material called Mod Rock to create pumpkins.
We had great fun at the Halloween disco and showed off our outfits.
Tin Whistle Time!
Fourth Class have been learning the tin whistle since early September and they have taken to it extremely well! Below are links to a great website where we have been learning lots of tunes such as Mary Had a Little Lamb, Hot Cross Buns, Twinkle Twinkle, Row Row Row Your Boat, Old Mac Donald and our longest tune - Britches Full of Stitches.
Updates from pupils in Fourth Class...
Gaelic Football
For the past few days we have been learning how to play gaelic football. Some people are experienced and other people are inexperienced but that’s okay it gives us the chance to learn how to play. The teacher’s name is Gerry.

We are learning about the history of Ballymun.
We have learned that the first people to move into the Ballymun flats was in 1966. We also learned that the people that were living in the tenements got a great surprize when someone told them that there was a new place called Ballymun and that they would be better homes and safer homes. We are doing some drama about people that were living in the tenements moving into ballymun so that they could have a better life.

FROBSCOTTLE
On Tuesday 13/09/2016, we made Frobscottle. Frobscottle is a drink from the BFG. We used: A jug, vanilla essence, raspberry sauce, green food colouring and 7up. It’s refreshing and tasty. You should try Frobscottle.
Enjoy!
