Active School Survey
This week the Active School Committee conducted a survey to find out what are the most popular sports in the school. We collated all the data and used a pie chart and a bar chart to show the results.
Active School Slogan
This year the school will be applying an Active Flag. Each school taking part must decide on a slogan to promote health, wellbeing and physical activity. The Active School Committee put their heads together to think of a number of slogans that might work for VMGNS. Today we voted and decided on our slogan.

Olympic Movement Break Challenge
The girls in the school took part in a month long movement break challenge. Each day in January they were taught new skills by Irish Olympians. What a great way to start the New Year!
Run Around Europe Challenge
The girls in all classes were challenged to build a ‘Run a Day’ in to their daily routines over the last 4 weeks. Each lap of the school yard counted towards 1km to their destination. Working together as a class, and as a school, the girls combined km got them to European capital cities such as Sofia, Prague, Zagreb and more.
PAWS (Primary Aquatics Water Safety)
The girls in Junior Infants and Senior Infants learned about water safety this month. They met characters like Splash The Bear and River The Otter, who guided them through each lesson and gave them tips and advice about being safe near water.
Europa Cup Blitz
The girls were invited to take part in the Europa Cup 5-a-side Blitz tournament. Great day out for them.
Santry Athletics
Great day out for our athletes from 4th, 5th and 6th class at Morton Stadium. Great performances in the 600m, relay, sprint, shotput and high jump. Well done girls!
